Are you speaking to people who are listening?

I had an interesting conversation with my ever-loving last night.

“How is it,” she asked, “that it’s not until I say I’m tired and ready for bed, you remember all those fascinating things you meant to tell me about?”

That made me wonder where else in my life I’m trying to transmit when people aren’t ready to receive.

A fundamental challenge for getting people to truly grasp what you and your genius can do for them is when you are so enthusiastic about it that you forget they might need a little warming up first.  That can be as simple as asking “Is this a good time to talk?” or “Is it OK if I share something with you?” – anything that respects where they are right now.

How do you check that your audience is ready to listen?
